GET THE LOCAL FACTS RIGHT

Maps & business profiles

Make it easier for someone nearby to understand your business, choose the right location and take the next step. Begin with an eligible profile and the facts customers rely on.

01

One reliable record of the business

Before changing categories or descriptions, assemble the operating name, location, phone, regular and special hours, service list and website destination. Record who can verify each fact. A business in a shared building may need a clear suite or entrance description for customers; that does not justify adding marketing keywords to its business name.

02

Match the profile to how you actually operate

A storefront, a service-area business and a hybrid business have different customer journeys. Establish whether customers can visit during the stated hours and whether the location meets Google’s requirements. For a business that only travels to customers, the public address needs different handling. We do not create pretend branches to cover more of the map.

03

Connect discovery with an informed visit

A profile click should land on a page that answers the next questions: which services are offered here, how to book, which entrance to use and what to expect. Keep holiday hours and temporary closures current. Use authentic photos and a consistent, policy-compliant approach to requesting honest feedback from customers.

04

Read the results without overclaiming

Maps visibility depends in part on relevance, distance and prominence. Record the search location and query when reviewing local results. Compare profile actions with actual enquiry quality where possible; a direction request is not a confirmed customer. A service-area setting does not create a ranking entitlement across that area.

Reference points

Policies can change. Check the current official guidance before changing a profile or publishing new location information.

A little more
clarity.

Do we need a profile for every city we serve?

No. Serving a city does not by itself create an eligible business location. Start with the real operating model and the current Google Business Profile rules.

Can you make a business rank first on Maps?

No provider can promise that outcome. The work is to improve accurate information, useful pages and relevant signals, then measure what changes.
